What Families Want to Know
Answers about classes, beginners, trial lessons, clothing, music, choreography, observation, absences, parking, fees, and the Dance Radiance home studio.
What should students wear?
A leotard or comfortable athletic wear is recommended. Appropriate dance shoes are required. Class-specific shoe guidance will be provided when placement is confirmed.
Are classes organized by age or ability?
Classes are organized primarily by age and grade, while experience, ability, maturity, safety, readiness, and student comfort are also considered. Older students will generally not be placed in substantially younger classes unless the placement is appropriate and comfortable for the student.
How much does a class cost?
The first weekly recreational class is $40 per month, and each additional weekly class is $35 per month. There is also a $40 annual registration fee per family. Family discounts and costume-payment options are listed on the Tuition & Studio Policies page.
How long are classes, and what is taught?
Most regular classes are approximately 55–60 minutes. Students generally receive about 25–30 minutes of dance and 25–30 minutes of tumbling. Dance may include jazz with ballet technique, clogging, cheer, and hip-hop.
How many students are in a class?
Regular group classes are designed for 3–8 students, with a preferred class size of 6–8. Classes with fewer than three students may be combined, rescheduled, shortened, converted to a semi-private arrangement, or canceled.
Do you offer private lessons?
Yes. Private and semi-private lessons may be available by appointment for dance technique, tumbling, choreography, individualized skill development, auditions, and solo or duet competition and performance preparation.
Can beginners enroll?
Yes. Beginners are welcome—in fact, helping new dancers feel comfortable, successful, and confident is one of the areas where Dance Radiance excels.
When do classes begin?
The regular school-year session begins the day after Labor Day. For the 2026–27 season, classes begin Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Do you offer trial classes?
Yes. Trial classes are available when space allows. Contact the studio so we can recommend the best class and arrange a visit.
Are costumes modest?
Yes. Costumes are selected to be modest and appropriate for the dancer's age, class, and choreography.
What type of music is used?
Music varies by age and class. Older students may help select music. Dance Radiance does not use suggestive or explicit music.
How is choreography selected?
Choreography is carefully chosen for the dancers' ages and skill levels. Choreography will not be suggestive.
Can parents observe classes?
Parent observation is welcome and is often encouraged during the first few classes. After several weeks, many students—especially younger children—participate more independently when family members are not in the room. Because the observation area is small, please keep visitors to a minimum. Mom and Tots is different: the participating adult is expected to remain and participate throughout the full class.
What happens if a student misses class?
Missing an occasional class is not a problem. Makeup opportunities may be available depending on the student's age, experience, and available classes. Excessive absences can cause a student to fall behind. Tuition is not reduced for missed classes.
Are there recital, costume, or competition fees?
Costume and competition fees may apply. There is no fee for the spring dance recital. Families will receive applicable costs and deadlines in advance.
How do withdrawals work?
Please work directly with the studio director. We want to understand the circumstances, keep records accurate, and make the transition as orderly as possible.
Where should families park?
For drop-off and pickup, please park on the road in front of the home. For visits lasting more than 20 minutes, use the gravel parking area along the driveway and park at approximately a 45-degree angle.
Are classes held in a home studio?
Yes. Dance Radiance is a home-based studio in Ogden. Classes are held in a dedicated basement space remodeled specifically for the dance studio. The exact address and arrival instructions are shared directly with prospective and registered families.
